About Me
Iβm a California artist, traveler, and cat mom who has far too many interests and hobbies! I jump between photography, writing, painting, crafting, pilates, cuddling with my cats, and traveling with my husband.
After almost four years working at a well-known social media company in the San Francisco Bay Area, I quit in October 2023 to be a full-time blogger!
Now I dedicate my full effort to what I enjoy most: taking photos, traveling, and helping others plan their perfect trips and create works of art on denim.
How It Started
My mom was an art teacher while I was growing up. She taught me about artists like van Gogh and Monet and introduced me to all different art mediums.
My childhood was filled with painting, drawing, and making a mess with whatever art supplies I was given.
Art was always a priority in our house and Iβm grateful that my creativity has been nurtured and supported throughout my life.
Art Classes
I took a variety of art classes in school, including drafting, computer graphics, and general art classes. Art classes forced me to get out of my comfort zone and taught me the βrulesβ of art.
The computer graphics class in high school inspired me to become a graphic designer. Spoiler: I didnβt!
Once I got to college, I started taking art history and studio art classes since my university didnβt offer graphic design classes.
After falling in love with art history, I took enough classes to receive a minor degree in History of Art and Architecture in addition to my Bachelorβs degree in Psychology!
Start of Denim Painting
After graduating from UC Santa Barbara in 2016, I moved to San Diego.
With no idea what to do with those degrees, I worked as a nanny, taught art classes at a ceramic studio, and thrifted denim to pay my rent (barely).
It was during this time that I picked up my neglected paintbrushes and paint tubes in December 2017.
Combining my love for art history, a new hobby of thrifting denim, and my artistic skills, I started creating my wearable works of art!
Current Day
I spend most of my days at my desk in my tiny home office working on travel guides and editing photos, taking a break each time a cat walks across my keyboard asking for cuddles.
When Iβm not working, I love to take day trips around the SF Bay Area, go on international trips to new places (and old favorites), and binge TV shows.
Painting on denim isnβt as big a part of my life as it used to be, but since quitting my corporate job I have more time to write tutorials for you and create more wearable works of art!
